The Bukhara miniature is one of the peaks of Eastern book art. Its roots lie in medieval manuscript workshops, where artists illustrated the poems of Nizami, Jami and Navoi.
The school is defined by the fineness of its line and the use of natural pigments and gold leaf. A single sheet takes weeks: color is laid in layers, and the gold is burnished with agate to a mirror shine.
Today Davlat Toshev carries this tradition forward, blending the canons of the old masters with his own hand.
